Roscoea are the exotic cousins of ginger, natives to the Himalayas. This species bear short spikes of orchid like flowers in a bright magenta purple shade against a low mound of green sword shaped leaves. Perform best in a moist, cool woodland setting. Clumps may be divided in early spring. Surprisingly hardy, lovely plant. Becomes dormant in the autumn emerges with the next June. Flowers July-September. Plant the crown 3-4” deep.mulch in fall for good winter protection. $8 pot |
