This lovely open growing tree produces a profusion of lightly fragrant narrow peteled flowers in early spring. As the tree matures the flowering increases to a point where it looks like a billowy white cloud. The roots are not aggressive and the tree casts open shade making it possible to garden under the canopy.
Kobus likes to be planted in rich soil, but not too wet or dry. Plant in a sheltered location where it is protected from high winds.this tree likes to form multiple stems if you prefer the look of a single trunk tree, choose a central leader when young to be the main trunk.you won't have to do much pruning with this magnolia, just damaged branches. Try to prune mid summer when blooming has finished.
