Hollyhocks add drama and height making an impressive backdrop to shorter perennials. They don't like to be moved so locate them in a permanent place. They attract hummingbirds to the garden. Plant in sunny area can take light shade for part of the day. Protect hollyhocks from damaging winds by providing support from a wall, fence or stakes. They will freely self seed, so once planted you should have a perm ant patch.
