Hepatica is one of the first plants to flower in the spring. Very hardy and can take a late frost or snow without damage. Named for it's green, glossy, liver shaped leaves. Star shaped 1/2" flowers come in shades of blue, lavender, white and yellow. Early pollen source for bees. Seeds are spread by ants! Loves to grow in an open woodland. Looks lovely in the garden growing with bloodroot, spring bulbs, perennial geranium, bleeding heart, and trillium. Very easy care. Place where it can remain undesturbed.
