Beautifies shady areas, such as beneath trees, where little else will grow. In spring, thick clumps of spurred flowers appear on wiry stems. Heart-shaped leaves. Low-growing plants are vigorous and long-lived. Grow in humus rich soil in some shade. Epimediums are among the easiest perennials to grow. Once established, are highly drought tolerant. They are deer resistant and are seldom bothered by voles or other critters.
